COMMUNITY GROUPS
We've made a date to go Dancin' this summer
Cleveland-The date has been set and the committee has begun planning for Dancin' in the Streets 1997, the 13th year for the AIDS Taskforce's biggest fundraiser. Mark your calendar now for Sunday, July 13.
If you've attended before, you know it's the hottest summer block party in our community. For the past three years we've held Dancin' north of Municipal Stadium. Not any more. The stadium has been demolished, and that site is now a construction area. The new location will be announced within the next month, so watch for ads, articles, and posters promoting the event.
exist for you to assist in raising money for people living with HIV, and AIDS, and those who still need to learn about it.
The next few meetings are listed here; come as soon as you can. All meetings are held at the AIDS Taskforce offices at 2728 Euclid Avenue, Suite 400, in downtown Cleveland. Meetings start at 6:30 pm on the following Thursdays: March 20; April 3 and 17; May 1, 15 and 29.
AID S
The money raised will go directly to the client services and education efforts of the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. With no outside promoter or event coordinator to pay, Cleveland's most successful summer block party, Dancin' in the Streets, is planned by volunteers. This allows more of the proceeds to go to Taskforce programs and ultimately serve our clients.
TASKFORCE
OF GREATER CLEVELAND
The Dancin' Planning Committee could use more help! We need people with backgrounds or interest in the following areas: Event layout, booth rental, entertainment bookings, merchandise inventory, ordering, and sales, and print ad and radio publicity.
Also, sign up your ball team, church group, or other civic organization to help volunteer on the day of the event. Many opportunities
With everyone starting to clean out their closets to make room for their spring wardrobes, now is also a good time to remember that the Task force has a new program to generate funds by accepting clothing donations at 29 bins in 21 cities throughout Northeast Ohio. Residents can also call for pickup at their door by calling 216523-8726.
Any kind of clothing can be donated in any size of men's, women's, and children's clothes, as well as household items like dishcloths, sheets, and towels. The donated clothing is not given to clients of the AIDS Taskforce, but is sold to an aftermarket with 100 percent of the generated funds applied directly to Taskforce services and programs.
For location of the nearest clothing donation bin or for more news about Dancin' in the Streets, call the Taskforce at 216621-0766. Also, look for the Dancin' web page soon (@ATFGC.org).

Thanks to supporters of the Olympus benefit
Cleveland-The Lesbian-Gay Community Service Center and the organizers of the Olympus '97 benefit party want to take a moment to thank these businesses for their support at Olympus:
Thanks to American Express Financial Services, Body Language, Jon Brittan Florists, Hi & Dry Inn, Fitworks Tower City, 4 Seasons Tanning, Exposé magazine, Clifton Web, and Kukala's Tanning and Tees.
Big thanks to the volunteers and the people who attended. Your support to the Center helps the community a great deal.
This is rare opportunity for our community to come together and share different perspectives and learn more about each other. These are the things that make us diverse within our community, but they are also the things that make us a strong community.
LESBIAN GAY
This workshop will be on Saturday, April 5 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at Pilgrim Church, 2592 Starkweather in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. The $20 registration fee covers a light breakfast and lunch.
Community Service
Center
We also had a great group for our “Building Strong Organizations" Workshop last weekend. Thanks to all who attended and to the Cleveland Foundation for their generous funding, which helped us hire the organizational consultants for these workshops. The next workshop will be a virtual celebration, a celebration of diversity, that is.
"Accepting and Valuing our Diversity" is for the members of Northeast Ohio's community organizations and groups. Many of us don't know the importance cultural diversity can bring to an organization; but the fact is if you aren't being sensitive to the needs of diverse communities, you aren't gaining the support of diverse communities.
